Hello there, sit back and check out what has been going on with Rice Picker Entertainment |
For the past three weeks I have been working for a program at ASU called Barrett Summer Scholars. This is a three week program to give gifted 8th and 9th graders a taste of what college is like and to challenge, help, and encourage the kids to go to college. This program was a blessing; I can honestly say that I learned to be a better leader when it comes to youth. And the fact that these kids were gifted was crazy because some of these kids were able to understand things only most adults know. I am truly sad to say good bye to these kids. As of now, I have a mixture of feelings of happy, sad, and scared.
I am happy to see that these kids enjoyed their time at college.
I am sad to say good bye to a bunch of the kids whom I spent nearly a whole month with through challenges and fun times.
I am scared because I may never see 98%, if not all, of the 87 participants I got to spend these three weeks with and what will happen to them. It’s almost like a parent watching their child leave for the real world. We’ll have contact thanks to Facebook and phones, but I just won’t be there to stand by their sides and help them get over a speed bump in their youth. I guess this is apart of the way relationships go.
For those of you BSS students reading this, I truly will miss you all!
